Step-by-Step Measurement Guide

1. Chest

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits. Keep the tape level and snug — not tight. You should be able to fit one finger between the tape and your body. Breathe normally; do not inflate your chest.

Common mistake: Pulling the tape too tight compresses the chest and results in a jacket that is too small. The tape should touch your body without squeezing.

2. Waist

Measure around your natural waistline — typically at the level of your navel, not where your trousers sit. This measurement determines the jacket’s suppression (the taper from chest to waist). Men with a larger midsection should measure at the widest point of the stomach for comfort.

3. Hips

Measure around the widest part of your hips and seat. Stand with your feet together and keep the tape level. This measurement ensures the jacket buttons cleanly without pulling across the hips.

4. Shoulder Width

Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, across the back. Follow the natural curve of the shoulder — do not pull the tape straight across. Have the person measuring stand behind you and follow the shoulder seam of your shirt.

Accuracy tip: Measure twice and record both values. If they differ by more than 1cm, take a third measurement and use the average.

5. Sleeve Length

With your arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from the shoulder point (where the sleeve seam begins) down to the wrist bone. The sleeve should end at the wrist — approximately 1–2cm below the shirt cuff when worn.

6. Jacket Length

Measure from the base of the collar (where the collar seam meets the shoulder) down to the point where you want the jacket hem to fall. The standard is to cover the seat completely, with the hem at the base of the thumb when arms hang naturally.

7. Neck

Wrap the tape around the base of your neck, just above the collarbone. Leave room for two fingers between the tape and your neck. This measurement determines collar size and ensuring comfortable buttoning.

8. Trouser Waist

Measure around your natural waistline (same point as jacket waist). If you plan to wear the trousers at a different height — lower on the hips, for example — measure at that position instead.

9. Trouser Inseam

Measure from the crotch seam (where the legs meet) down to the desired hem position. For a clean break, the trouser should end at the top of the shoe. For no break, end 1–2cm above the shoe.

10. Trouser Outseam

Measure from the waistband down the outside of the leg to the hem. This measurement helps our tailors verify the inseam and ensure correct proportions.
